When starting off in business you are usually pretty good at your trade, whether it be plumbing, farming or even personal training. But nobody teaches you how to get clients and customers. You rely on word of mouth and recommendations from friends and family. But reality is, that isn’t enough.
And why should it be? You are the best at what you do, you deserve to have people flock to you, begging you for your business!
This is what I learned the hard way. Hours and hours studying marketing, advertising, branding. Finding ways to get a reliable stream of customers. Countless trial and error attempts. £100’s wasted on failed ad campaigns. Numerous marketing books and courses. 18 months later and I finally acquired the skills to grow my business.
Now, I was consistently bringing in leads for my own business. If I needed more clients, I knew exactly what to do to get them. And without fail. I had mastered the art of Facebook Advertising and Direct Marketing. And then I made a discovery.
I spoke to several business owners. I saw highly skilled business owners failing. I Scoured online for forums where numerous people expressed the exact same problem. Then it hit me. They were ME but 18 months younger.
And after honing my skills in I offered to help. I offered to fast forward them and skip the dull phase that took me so long to work out. And after helping a few friends and family I realised there were hundreds, no thousands of businesses that were like mine.
Great at what they do. But bloody awful at digital marketing.
